Pottali (Kizhi) Therapy for Muscle Relaxation

Updated: Mar 25

Pottali therapy, also known as Kizhi therapy, is a traditional Ayurvedic treatment in which warm herbal bundles are used to massage the body. These bundles are filled with medicinal herbs, herbal powders, or leaves and heated in medicated oils before application. This therapy is widely used in Ayurveda to relieve muscle stiffness, improve circulation, and reduce inflammation.

How Pottali Therapy Works

During the treatment, herbal bundles are gently pressed and massaged over specific areas of the body. The heat and medicinal properties of the herbs penetrate deep into the tissues, helping to relieve pain and stiffness. The therapy stimulates blood circulation and promotes natural healing.

Benefits of Pottali Therapy

  • Relieves muscle stiffness and body pain

  • Improves blood circulation

  • Reduces inflammation in joints

  • Promotes relaxation and flexibility

  • Helps detoxify body tissues

Pottali therapy is commonly recommended for arthritis, back pain, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal disorders.
